		<description>Biography
Described as a “genre-bending, worldly musical chameleon” (TimeOut NY) and a “notable cross-genre composer” (The New Yorker) as well as lauded for her “hard-edged pop songs” (The New York Times), Danielle Eva Schwob is a London-born but NYC-based songwriter, composer, guitarist and singer.  She writes confessional avant-garde pop/rock and concert music, having grown up playing in rock bands before studying classical composition and orchestration formally.  Ambitious in scope and characterized by a thoughtful demeanor, honest lyrics and lush sound-scapes, her music fuses glittering synthesizers with classically-influenced string arrangements, electric guitars and rock drumbeats.  Her work has been described as “dark and beautiful” (Consequence of Sound), “satisfyingly dark” (Sequenza21) and “an emotional exorcism” (Sonic Scoop) as well as chosen as a TimeOut Critic’s Pick and featured on media outlets including NPR, NY1 and MNN.

Danielle has earned honours for her work from the Aaron Copland Fund for Music, The American Composers Forum, Con Edison/Exploring the Metropolis, Philip Glass’s MATA Festival, the Margaret Sanders Foundation and NYU and was an ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Award finalist.  She currently resides in the U.S. on an O-1 visa for extraordinary ability in the arts.  Her talents as a composer/performer have been featured at venues including Le Poisson Rouge, Lincoln Center, Joe’s Pub, 92Y Tribeca, Galapagos Art Space and Issue Project Room.  Ensembles that have performed her concert music include the Janus Trio, The Deviant Septet, the Nouveau Classical Project, SYZYGY and the NYU Symphony Orchestra as well as members of ICE, Signal and Alarm Will Sound.

Recently Danielle collaborated with Philip Glass’ team as a guitarist and arranger for a recording of Mr. Glass’s Cabin in the Rockies, which is slated for release on his label, Orange Mountain Music, later in the year.  She has also completed arrangements/orchestrations for artists including Emmy-winning composer Joel Douek, “indie rock fusion virtuoso” (NY Press) Natti Vogel and “anthemic” (Newsday) recording artist Gambit.  She has also appeared as a sideline musician on NBC’s hit television series, Smash.

In 2012, Danielle was awarded a JFund commission from the American Composers Forum to write a set of three solo electro-acoustic works. From 2011-2012, she was also a Con Edison Composer-In-Residence, working with her band and new music group, SYZYGY, to develop new arrangements of her rock songs for mixed chamber ensemble.  Other recent activities include the releas of her debut pop/rock EP, Overloaded.  Produced by Ido Zmishlany (Ryan Star, Lion of Ido, Gambit, Kryštof) the record is inspired by the pace of the modern day world and the complex relationships that come with it.   She performs in New York regularly with her rock band.

Danielle is also the Artistic Director and Founder of SYZYGY New Music, an award-winning ensemble dedicated to presenting innovative work by living composers. Operating primarily within the contemporary classical scene but with a penchant for programming cross-genre work, SYZYGY consists of a flexible roster of New York City’s top young instrumentalists and composers.  The group has been featured in the New York Times and lauded as “astronomical” (The Tribeca Film Festival), “impressive [and] solid…one of 2009’s most promising new groups” (Sequenza21), “imaginative, mind-blowing and progressive” (Unveiled Arts).  With SYZYGY, Danielle has coordinated performances featuring her own music in conjunction with venues/companies including Galapagos Art Space, Ableton Live, Chambers Fine Art, RedBull, BMI, Novation and The Nabi Gallery. The group has commissioned/premiered over a dozen new concert works.

No stranger to the world of theatre, Danielle has also lent her talents as a guitarist to numerous productions. Some of her theatre credits include Evita at Northern Stage, Fantasy Football: The Musical? at the TBG Theatre (NYMF), Next To Normal at the Adirondack Theater Festicval, Zombie Prom at The American Theater of Actors, two New York productions of Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Perez Hilton Saves the Universe in concert at Joe’s Pub.

Danielle holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Composition from New York University and has completed additional masters level coursework at The Manhattan School of Music and MSU’s John. J. Cali School of Music (where she received a full tuition scholarship and graduate assistantship).
